The Grachtenfestival is the largest festival in the Netherlands dedicated to classical music and jazz.
Each year, it offers ten days of performances throughout Amsterdam, providing a platform for young talent to showcase themselves and connect — with each other and with (new) audiences.
On July 10, TOBACCO proudly hosts the Peter Somuah Group XL!
Peter Somuah Group XL will blow you away — not just with volume, but with finesse. With a hypnotic blend of jazz, funk, and deep Ghanaian roots, this band weaves a musical web you’ll gladly get caught in. Frontman Peter Somuah doesn’t just play the trumpet — he breathes into it. His melancholic sound is as warm as a summer night and as piercing as a memory that lingers.
On the TOBACCO stage, together with his expanded XL ensemble, he transforms the room into a steamy oasis of groove. Think: danceable rhythms that tingle the soles of your feet, deep basslines that make your chest vibrate, and melodies that carry you from the dusty streets of Accra to the shimmering canals of Amsterdam.
